Months of Magic Lunar Calendar. Full Moon Ritual
I wrote about calendars in a previous post. Normally we follow Gregorian solar calendar. The lunar calendar seems like it should work pretty well too for monthly time count. So for the 12 Months in practice I will try following the lunar phase cycles for the months.
By the way right now December 2013 is Symbol Magic in my calendar for 2013. This blog makes sense then. ψ
Here's arbitrary arrangement for 2014:
- January – Crystal Magic
- February – Dream Magic
- March – Healing Magic
- April – Psi Magic
- May – Ritual Magic
- June – Illusion Magic
- July – Natural Magic
- August – Elemental Magic
- September – Craft Magic
- October – Spirit Magic
- November – Chaos Magic
- December – Symbol Magic
I started using this system since the end of summer – beginning of autumn this year.
In the lunar calendar, each New Moon marks the beginning of a new month. Right now is Full Moon, almost ending its fullness. Full Moon is special stage in the lunar cycle. Many supernatural phenomena are associated with Full Moon, etc. This makes it a good time for a Ritual, especially monthly ritual. Like howling at the moon or purification ritual.
What would be a good ritual depends on what the desired outcome is. Most importantly, it must be carried out in order to have effect.
Full Moon is also a good time to mark the beginning of a habit change, which must be carried out for a month. Any kind of month-long self-training. This is good practice to raise Will and self control. Example can be practice (practice meditation every day for a month) or habit break (don't drink/smoke for a month), etc. A good base for using lasting practices is important. This basically means that you should be able to do anything you are capable of doing whenever you decide to do so. If you are already there then you should be able to find a reason to do so and do so. But not anything! Do what's important, in this case Magic.
The other day I wrote out some basic ideas on rituals, which I will write about later. This relates to the above. The moon watching experiment is a new magical practice that I just started. It is also part of one of basic skills – Navigation.
