Magic Circle marks the space of magical working and is also used for protection. It is Ritual of intent, the intention of the caster is what gives power to the circle, which in turn give power to the user.

Magic Circles are easy to cast. They can be cast anywhere at any time and can be very simple. All that's needed is intent. There are unlimited possibilities on specifics of casting or performing the ritual. Magic circles can be elaborate, like mandalas often are, or simply waving a hand to mark where the circle is with the intention of casting it creates a magic circle. The strength of the circle depends in part on how it is cast because some methods make it easier to put intent into. Its best to practice different methods to find which one is best.
Casting Specifics
Important. Magic Circle must be uncast at the end of the ritual.
Compass Directions are often marked at 4 ends of the circle. Often something is placed here like runes or candles. Directions can be marked by 4 classical elements – Fire, Water, Earth, Air – represented by objects (rock, wood, soil, water, etc.) or marked by some other elements/signs/etc.. A pentagram can be drawn inside the circle with 5 elements on the outside.
Boundary is what marks the circle. It should be fully cast and uncast at the end of the ritual. Can be marked by thought, hand, wand, staff, incense and other tools.
Magic Protection The circle can be cast with protective qualities. Besides raising energy this is another big reason for casting circles. Important in rituals dealing with the Spirits, so that they will not harm you.
Group circle Magic circle can be cast by more than one person at a time. Magic circles involving more than one person can be very powerful if the energy is properly combined.
Description of a Ritual
- Cast the magic circle. Make it as simple or as elaborate as you want. Intent.
- Sit/stand inside the circle (or as the ritual requires). Meditate, visualize or perform special breathing to raise power if required.
- Magical working or Protection (usually both). You can invoke God or Goddess to talk to them or ask questions. Or you can invoke/summon spirits to do your bidding, summon a familiar/magic ally, etc.. For example, in a Wiccan circle that I cast, I invoked the Goddess and then used Tarot to communicate with her. Many specific rituals have been written and can be found in books or on the Internet. Magic circles are also cast for protection from magic, like in a magic battle with another magician. Magic Battle can be good practice to test your casting skills.
- Once the ritual is complete, the circle is uncast.
