Crystal Magic – Crystals and Structure

Crystal Magic deals with crystals, geo and structure of the world. This includes on one hand crystals and crystallography, amulets, energy of crystals, rocks and minerals, Terra formation / geology and on the other hand world structure: space, symmetry, patterns, matrix, geometry, physics, formation.

So for the most part Crystal Magic is structural magic, concerned with the structure of the world. Crystals are formations with structured arrangement of atoms and are special for that reason. They can store/release magic energy and can be used for many purposes, such as healing, protection, spell-binding, etc.

Crystal Structure

Crystals are measured/categorized in several ways – by space groups (arrangement of atoms symmetry in 3D space) and Bravais lattices, which describe mathematically the geometry (symmetry) of crystals. Crystals are also distinguished by hardness, color and chemical composition. Chemical composition often consists of very few elements (often just 2 or 3), for example Cuprite (Cu2O), Sphalerite (ZnS), Magnetite (Fe3O4) or Cinnabar (HgS). Crystals come in all kinds of symmetrical or partially symmetrical forms – this is the most obvious awesome property of crystals and can be used for various purposes in Magic.

Growing Crystals

It is possible to grow crystals. Normally, most crystals grow for thousands years deep underground, but some are easier and faster to grow. Otherwise special conditions can be established to speed up the process in order to grow some of these other crystals in a lifetime. Right now I am concerned with what we can do using what we already have for magical purposes.

So the crystals that are easy to grow are water-soluble. For example Copper Sulfate (CuSO4), Salt (NaCl) or Sugar. Briefly I'm gonna explain how to grow water-soluble crystals:

Let's assume we're making salt crystals, which are the easiest to make because you already have everything you need.

You will need: glass, salt, water, pencil and string.

1. In a beaker or glass, make saturated solution – so add salt to water until it no longer dissolves.
2. Take pencil and string. Wrap string in the center of the pencil several times, leaving a trail which will be descended into the water.
3. Position the pencil on top of the beaker or glass, so the string goes into the water.
4. Wait. The crystals will start growing in a day or two.
5. When a good crystals (perfectly cubic in case of salt) start to form, you can take one of those (don't touch with hands) and use it as a seed to make bigger crystal. Thus big monocrystals can be achieved. It's important to filter in order to get monocrystal, otherwise dust particles will affect crystal's shape during growth.

You can make simple crystals very easily (steps 1-4), but to get good quality crystals experimentation is necessary.

Crystal Meanings

Most information that can be found on Crystal Magic concerns itself with energizing crystals and using crystals for personal power or charm. One can find many sources that say which crystals are better used for what purpose and how crystals correspond to different systems (like Astrology/birthstones or chakras). These should be examined and tested to see what works better, as it can be personalized.

Crystal Energy

Crystals can be grounded or cleansed, charged or be relieved of energy. To prepare or cleanse crystals, they can be buried underground, held under water, held under sea salt water, cleansed with tuning fork (vibrations), moonlight or sunlight, ritual of intent or other elements. Crystals can then be charged with energy and used for some purpose. All this stuff on energy needs more explanation in order to practice, however many resources are already available. I may go into details later.
